Experience the Finnish Archipelago Together

NORTHERN SISTERS ISLAND TIME

An 8-Day Women's Journey Through the World's Largest Archipelago

The Finnish Archipelago is a place that brings people together – with nature and with one another. On this special women's journey, you'll explore the peaceful island world around Kustavi and the Åland Islands together with Rebecca. Between kayaking, traditional Finnish sauna, island walks and shared meals, there's plenty of time for meaningful conversations, laughter and the small moments that turn a journey into a lasting memory.

Rebecca is the co-founder of Finnspirit and lives with her family on a small island in the Finnish Archipelago. As your host, she personally guides this journey, sharing her favourite places, her love for Finland and the unique rhythm of island life – authentic, welcoming and far beyond the usual tourist trail.

You'll stay at our Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge on the island of Vartsala and experience Finland through local eyes. In a small group of like-minded women who love nature and enjoy being active outdoors, this journey offers the perfect balance of shared experiences and personal freedom – creating friendships and memories that often last long after the journey has ended.

HIGHLIGHTS

Stay close to nature at our eco-glamping hideaway in the heart of the Finnish Archipelago, nestled between the Archipelago National Park and the Bothnian Sea National Park.

What Makes This Journey Special

Guests at Our Home in the Finnish Archipelago

Rebecca welcomes you to Kalliokumpu – her home between the forest and the sea. From here, you'll explore the islands together, enjoy long summer evenings in the sauna, and discover the places that are simply part of her everyday life.

Island Hopping with Time to Discover

By ferry, bicycle and on foot, you'll explore the diverse islands of the Finnish Archipelago. Visit historic fortress islands, the northern Åland Islands, artisan workshops and the vibrant city of Turku, discovering the many different ways of life shaped by the sea, forests and islands.

The Northern Sisters Community

This journey is all about connection. In a small group of like-minded women, conversations flow naturally, laughter is shared, and friendships often continue long after the journey has come to an end.

Between Campfires and Forest Saunas

Not every moment needs an itinerary. During an evening in our WildSPA forest sauna, while baking traditional Finnish cinnamon buns or on a quiet walk through the island forest, you'll have time to slow down, unwind and experience the Finnish way of life with all your senses.

Stay Surrounded by Nature

During your journey, you'll stay at our Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge on the island of Vartsala in Kustavi* – a small, sustainable island retreat in the heart of the Finnish Archipelago. Surrounded by forest, granite cliffs and the sea, it's a place where tranquillity, nature and comfort come together in perfect harmony.

Depending on availability, you'll stay in one of our beautifully furnished glamping tents with a private terrace and wood-burning stove, or in our cosy Tiny Cabin. Each accommodation has been thoughtfully designed to bring you close to nature while offering comfortable beds, high-quality linens and plenty of privacy.

For the week, our traditional wood-fired forest sauna and eco dry toilet become your authentic Finnish bathroom experience. The lodge also features our Forest SPA, a campfire area and our Island Kitchen, where we serve relaxed breakfasts and our seasonal Archipelago Dinner.

With a maximum of six guests, Kalliokumpu remains an intimate retreat, far from mass tourism and with plenty of space to experience the Finnish wilderness at your own pace. Walking paths and forest trails begin right at the lodge, inviting you to step straight into nature.

* The Kustavi Archipelago covers approximately 770 km² – about the same size as Hamburg. Around 600 km² of this area is sea.

The Taste of the Finnish Archipelago

Food is an essential part of experiencing Finland. We prepare mostly vegetarian meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients inspired by the forests, gardens and sea of the Finnish Archipelago. Depending on the season, wild berries, mushrooms, herbs and regional specialities find their way onto the table.

Sharing meals is just as much a part of this journey as exploring the islands. Start your mornings with a relaxed breakfast, and in the evenings enjoy freshly prepared dinners together in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. On one special evening, you'll experience our signature Forest to Sea Dinner – a seasonal dining experience inspired by the flavours of the archipelago.

We're happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan and most dietary requirements with advance notice.

Journey Itinerary

The itinerary is subject to change.

Individual activities and the order of the programme may be adjusted depending on weather conditions or operational requirements.

Day 1 Arrival at Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge Travel independently to Turku, where Rebecca will warmly welcome you before travelling together to Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge in Kustavi, in the heart of the Finnish Archipelago. After settling into your accommodation, we'll gather around the campfire for a delicious welcome dinner. The evening ends with a relaxed introduction to the week ahead, giving you the chance to get to know the group and look forward to the experiences that await.

Day 3 Across the Sea by Boat After breakfast, we'll set out by boat across the open sea to the island of Katanpää, a former fortress island that can only be reached by water and lies within the Bothnian Sea National Park. Surrounded by rugged coastline and peaceful forests, we'll follow the island's scenic nature trail, discovering its fascinating history and enjoying the quiet beauty of this remote corner of the archipelago. A packed lunch will accompany us on today's adventure. In the afternoon, we'll cruise back across the sound to Kalliokumpu, where we'll end the day with a relaxed Archipelago Dinner at the lodge.

Day 5 Turku – Finland's Oldest City Start the day the Finnish way with an optional morning sauna, followed by a relaxed breakfast. Later, we'll head to Turku, Finland's oldest city and the gateway to the Finnish Archipelago. During a leisurely guided walk, you'll discover the city's rich history, vibrant culture and everyday Finnish life. Along the way, we'll stop for coffee and visit one of Turku's fascinating museums. In the early evening, we'll return to Kalliokumpu, where a freshly prepared Archipelago Dinner awaits us at the lodge.

Day 7 A Day at Your Own Pace After a leisurely breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy however you wish. Take time to relax, unwind or explore the Finnish Archipelago at your own rhythm. There are plenty of ways to spend the day. Visit the local island museum, head out on a stand-up paddleboard, join a soothing sauna yoga session, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Kalliokumpu. A packed lunch is provided, giving you the freedom to spend the day wherever inspiration takes you. In the evening, we'll come together once more to enjoy our Archipelago Dinner at 6:00 pm.

Day 2 By Bike Across the Island & the Aroma of Fresh Cinnamon Buns Start the day the Finnish way – perhaps with a relaxing morning sauna before breakfast. Later, we'll set off on a leisurely bike ride to explore the main island of Kustavi. Our destination is a charming arts and crafts village, where local artisans, galleries and workshops offer a glimpse into island life and Finnish craftsmanship. Here, we'll enjoy a traditional salmon soup for lunch before taking time to wander and explore. Back at the lodge in the afternoon, we'll bake traditional Finnish cinnamon buns together while learning a few Finnish words along the way. At 6:00 pm, we'll gather once again for our Archipelago Dinner at Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge.

Day 4 Forest Walk & WildSPA Wellness After breakfast, we'll head into the island forest for a guided nature walk. As we explore the peaceful trails together, you may be lucky enough to spot some of the wildlife that calls the archipelago home, including moose, white-tailed deer, sea eagles or, with a great deal of luck, even a lynx or wolf. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Relax at the lodge, wander through the forest or simply soak up the tranquillity of island life. Following dinner, you'll experience an unforgettable evening in our WildSPA. Surrounded by the forest, we'll enjoy the warmth of the traditional wood-fired sauna, relax in the hot tub and indulge in soothing herbal foot baths – a deeply relaxing Finnish wellness experience under the open sky.

Day 6 A Day in the Åland Islands After breakfast, we'll set off together for a full-day excursion to the northern Åland Islands. Travelling by ferry through the beautiful archipelago, we'll visit the remote island of Jurmo, where we'll explore on foot and experience the peaceful rhythm of island life. A picnic lunch in the open air is included, giving us time to enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery and the tranquillity of this unique island. If the weather is kind, don't forget your swimwear – there may be the perfect opportunity for a refreshing dip in the Baltic Sea. In the early evening, we'll return to Kalliokumpu, where our Archipelago Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm.

Day 8 Time to Say Goodbye Perhaps begin your final morning with one last Finnish sauna before enjoying breakfast together. Afterwards, it's time to say goodbye to the Finnish Archipelago. Rebecca will drive you back to Turku, where your journey comes to an end. We wish you a safe journey home—or wherever your next adventure may take you—and hope to welcome you back to Finland again someday.

"The Finnish Archipelago is full of wonders. Behind every island, there's a new secret waiting to be discovered."

"Nature at its best! Forest walks, kayaking, spotting sea eagles, white-tailed deer, roe deer and even a moose. Cycling through the islands, swimming in the sea, listening to the wind and rain from the comfort of our tent, and enjoying endless sauna sessions. We also loved the delicious local food, baking traditional Finnish cinnamon buns and making lingonberry jam. Our very first trip to Finland couldn't have been better. Thank you for such a wonderful experience – we'll definitely recommend it to others!"
Gabi - Berlin, Deutschland

"We felt completely at home and truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. We came away with so many wonderful impressions and unforgettable landscapes. Keep up the great work!"
Kerstin Stingl - Gießen
