Journeys Through Finland with Rebecca Lang & Sami Bill
Meet the founders of Finnspirit and discover why Finland is more than a destination for us. It is our home. We live here, and we'd love to share the country with you through the places, people and experiences that make it so special.
Why We Founded FINNSPIRIT
When we moved to Finland, we soon realised that many travellers visit the country's most famous sights but only experience Finland on the surface. Yet what truly makes this country special are the quiet moments – time in nature, the sauna, genuine hospitality, and the simple rhythm of life in the North.
That's why we founded Finnspirit.
Our goal is not only to show people Finland's most beautiful places, but to share the Finnish way of life – through personally guided journeys, small groups, and meaningful encounters.
We travel in small groups, work closely with local partners, and design our journeys as sustainably as possible.
The result is journeys that stay with you – while helping to preserve the Finland we love.
Because we hope future generations will still be able to experience Finland as we are fortunate enough to experience it every day.

REBECCA LANG – CULTURE · SAUNA · ENCOUNTERS
Rebecca is the co-founder of Finnspirit and lives in Finland with her family. Before following her heart to the North, she spent many years working as a dramaturge at German theatres. Her passion for storytelling, culture, and human connection continues to shape the way she designs every journey.
Later, she trained in Helsinki as a Finnish sauna master, relaxation therapist, and sauna yoga instructor. Today, she brings together her love of storytelling with Finland's unique way of life, creating experiences that are both meaningful and deeply personal.
For Rebecca, the sauna is far more than a place to relax. It is a place of connection, trust, and an essential part of Finnish culture. With a natural warmth and sensitivity to people, she creates an atmosphere where conversations unfold, time seems to slow down, and fellow travellers often become lasting friends.
Whether tending the fire in a traditional wood-heated sauna, breathing in the scent of fresh birch, sharing a quiet moment by a lakeshore, or hiking through the vast landscapes of Lapland, Rebecca treasures those small moments when guests don't just see Finland—they truly experience it.
“For me, a truly great journey begins the moment people feel welcome and discover Finland with all their senses.”

SAMI BILL – NATURE · LANDSCAPES · DISCOVERY
Sami is the co-founder of Finnspirit and lives with his family on a small island in the Finnish Archipelago. As a German-Finn, he feels at home in both cultures and combines the perspective of a local with the curiosity of a traveller. As the host of Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge, a nature guide, and a photographer, he knows Finland far beyond its famous highlights—from the islands of the Archipelago to the vast landscapes of Lapland.
Before founding Finnspirit, Sami spent many years working as a video artist and scenographer at international theatres. That creative background still shapes every journey he leads. He has a keen eye for atmosphere, landscapes, and the small details that make a place truly unforgettable.
Nature has always been at the heart of Sami's life. He worked as a dogsled guide in Lapland, immersed himself in Sámi culture and their deep knowledge of nature, and still spends every free moment outdoors—on the sea, in the forest, or around a campfire.
Travelling with Sami means experiencing Finland at a slower pace, with curiosity, attention to detail, and a good sense of humour. Whether baking bread over an open fire, hiking through ancient forests, or watching white-tailed eagles soar above the Finnish Archipelago, he believes that the most memorable journeys are not defined by an itinerary, but by the moments that stay with you.
“I don't just want to show you Finland—I want you to feel at home here, even if it's only for a little while.”
